OA Switchboard Year in Review - A Growing Global Community

Entering our sixth year: Data Quality Challenge, Adoption and Integration

As we close the year, we would like to thank our community of research funders, institutions and consortia, publishers, partners, and integrators for their continued trust and collaboration.

OA Switchboard has seen tremendous adoption and traffic over the years.

Key figures as of 31 December 2025:

• 21 consortia

• 42 publishers

• 280 research institutions and funders

• More than 42,000 organisations connected

• Over 2.3 million messages sent through the hub

These numbers reflect a growing, global community working together to simplify the sharing of authoritative, timely, and aggregated scholarly communications metadata, united by a shared commitment to ensuring that research is accessible to all.

Entering our sixth year, we will continue to focus on:

• Addressing the Data Quality Challenge, by calling on publishers, institutions, and funders to collectively revolutionise how research and publication metadata is created, shared, and maintained.

• Building wider adoption, as OA Switchboard grows stronger with every participant, becoming a better tool for all.

• Enabling widespread and consistent usage across the ecosystem, designed to operate and integrate with all stakeholder systems.
